Spiritual Life

There was a time when we were young.

Our faces were smooth,
our steps were quick,
and our minds seemed to remember everything.

But the years pass.

The beauty of youth slowly fades.
Our memory may not be as sharp as it once was.
Our bodies become weaker,
and things that once seemed so easy may become difficult.

Perhaps there is a gift hidden even in this.

As we grow older, God teaches us humility.

We begin to understand that our beauty, our strength, our intelligence, and even our time were never truly ours.

They were gifts.

And what wonderful gifts they have been.

Think of all the beauty God has allowed us to see—the morning sky, flowers blooming, the faces of those we love.

Think of the laughter, the friendships, the discoveries, the meals shared together, and the countless little joys that filled our days.

Our life on earth is short.

But how beautiful.
How fascinating.
How precious.

And all of it has been given to us by the grace of God.

So perhaps growing old is not simply losing what we once had.

Perhaps it is also a time of preparation.

Little by little, we loosen our hold on this world and learn to place ourselves more completely in God’s hands.

And even death need not be only an ending.

For those who trust in Christ, death is the doorway to a new chapter—an entrance into eternal life with God.

Like a caterpillar leaving behind its old form and emerging as a butterfly, what appears to us as an ending may be the beginning of something far more beautiful than we can now imagine.

So while we are still here, let us live with gratitude.

Let us love deeply.
Let us forgive freely.
Let us enjoy the days God still gives us.

And as our bodies grow weaker, may our hearts grow closer to Him.

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

— 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18

Growing older is not only a journey toward the end of this life.

For the Christian, it is also a journey home.
